So the the two plugs are on each side of my living room , and there both hooked up too the dimmer switch for my pot lights in the ceiling the switch is @ the other end of the room , and i was wondering how too make it so i can hook the outlets up so they work without the switch being turned on %26amp; without taking the dimmer off the pot lights , the one outlet is near my tv stand and i need it for my tv also we opened the potlights too see if there was a box there and there wasn't , any sugguestions ?Need to change 2 outlets so there no longer hooked up too dimmer switch? You can rewire to bypass the switch at the box where it is located. However, depending on where you live, it may be against the law for you to do this yourself unless you're a licensed electrician. Therefore, I won't attempt to tell you how to accomplish it. All I'll say is that the two outlets are on a single circuit, and that circuit is separate from the one that handles the lights.Need to change 2 outlets so there no longer hooked up too dimmer switch?Check the outlets to find the wire going from the dimmer to the outleteither disconnect or connect that wire direct to a hot wire. Be safe and shut off the circuit. If in doubt call a Electrician.Need to change 2 outlets so there no longer hooked up too dimmer switch? It sounds to me like they tapped of your outlets which were originally controlled by a switch they then installed a dimmer and tapped the pots off the outlets and that created dimmer controlled outlets and pots. the only thing that you might be able to do is just open up the outlets feed just the pots and run a new circuit for the outlets or find the feed for the switch and pick up the hot neutral and ground and run a new wire for the outletsNeed to change 2 outlets so there no longer hooked up too dimmer switch? If you are in the US, it is a code violation to have receptacle outlets connected to a dimmer. It sounds like you need a licensed electrician to figure this one out.
