How to update and switch up my style?

i wear skinny jeans alot

dark, light, ripped, cuffed up, grey and acid wash

i love plaid and flannel i wear them with leggings or jeans

also deep v necks and a black motorcycle jacket

my shoes are usually flats, sandals, or short boots, or brown moccasin

i like to tease my wavy hair to make it look full or wear it scrunched and natural

any tips on how to change it up a bit? thanks :)How to update and switch up my style?Accessories, accessories. They are your best friend when you want to spice up your style!

Belts, bangles, bracelets, headbands, clips, earrings, necklaces, charms, the list can go on.

Find pieces that define your style and finetune your look :]How to update and switch up my style?by the sounds of it youre pretty scene and if you want to change it up a bit i suggest some fitted tees cause those'll always go with your skinnies. a good pair of boyfriend fit jeans are always good too, and they'll go with your flannel and a brown braided belt. a cute dress from urban outfitters would be really nice too, it would go with your short boots as well.

hope it helps

xxHow to update and switch up my style?what do you want to change it too? i think your style is greatt (: the only thing i would lose is the black motorcycle jacket. Lol, maybe take a more %26quot;preppy%26quot; direction? A lot of %26quot;preppy%26quot; girls at my school wear skinny jeans , v-necks, flats, scandals (including flipflops), short fringy boots %26amp; moccasins. But they straighten their hair--everyday. :/ I'm glad that you keep your hair wavy ^^; it sounds really nice. Maybe wear leggings with shorts (if you like that style) or flare jeans instead of all skinny jeans? Or you could change what you wear your skinny jeans with. I don't know what you wear them, but you could go into a more %26quot;preppyish%26quot; direction by wearing them with flats or flipflops :] You could also straighten your hair, but please don`t straighten your hair everyday. That's not good for your hair.

How can the Environmentalists complain?

Hey I'm all for green technology but what the %26amp;$@@. L.E.D. lighting is a wonderful alternative to regular incandescent lighting. I would love to change out every light I have. However I shouldn't have to give up my Personal preference in light fixtures. I have been searching for a physical outlet for sockets which will fit my fixtures. With very little success. The only way is to give my credit card number over the net, which I will not do under any circumstances. So, I guess the end result is the Environmentalists don't want us to switch to green technology badly enough to allow retail outlets to carry large selections of sockets, and bulbs.

With this in mind I wonder what the greenies are complaining about. Make your technology available or quit complaining about the energy we are using! How can the Environmentalists complain? It's not the environmentalists that are not making them available, the stores have to order them from the manufacture in order to have them in stock. Blame the right source. How can the Environmentalists complain?Green products is collapsing..and in billions of $.How can the Environmentalists complain? There are plenty online. And take it from me, i own an online e-commerce site, transactions online are 10 times safer than using card at retail outlets. And yes there is plenty of data to back that up, but I dont feel like looking up the links right now. For instance in any online transaction, I NEVER see the the full credit card number, or the 3 digit code on the back, because my credit card processor protects your info from me, the store owner. On the flip side, in a retail store not only myself, but any wing ding employee could have possible access to the credit card number.

Anyway, just buy what you need online and quit complaining. Its funny that you say that the %26quot;environmentalists%26quot; complain too much, when your entire post is one big complaint, because you are stuck int he stone age and refuse to do business online. How can the Environmentalists complain? That is so frustrating!

I think it will just take some time for the suppliers to realise there is a market out there for people wanting to install LED lighting with their existing fixtures.

Keep asking your local supplier %26quot;when are you getting them in?%26quot;

Good luck!

  • What effect will lighter grips have on my swing?

I'm having difficulties in feeling where the club head is during my swing. So far the only solution has been to slow down my swing incredibly and I am losing a lot of distance from it (about 30 yards). Currently my grips weigh 55 grams and I was thinking of switching to the new Winn light grips which weigh 25 grams. I have never hit with such a light grip and don't know how much of an effect that the swing weight change will have on distance and accuracy. What effect will lighter grips have on my swing?Ok...here is the REAL DEAL! Light grips, increase swingweight by up to 6 swingweights. Yes...it does give you a better feel of where the clubhead is. For a golfer that grew up in the 70's, these work quite nicely, as, the old clubs were %26quot;headheavy%26quot;. I use 39 gram grips...Golf Pride Durometer Lite's, blue cap. You can find them on EBAY. It's a much better alternative than the Winn, as, the Winn, is a bit too light. Winn, also, have a 42 gram grip. By using a lighter grip...you reduce the weight of the whole club by 14 to 28 grams...bearly noticeable.

This is a great idea, you have, as without scarring the clubhead...or moving the sweet spot closer to the hosel, by stuffing lead down the shaft...you'll never be able to get the same effect!

You should be getting 10 points, for such a good question! What effect will lighter grips have on my swing? It will make almost no effect. I would suggest against it as the Winn Lights would just be less durable, and would not have much of an effect on swing speed and feel. As far as getting more feeling that will only come from hitting balls and develop a sense of feel for yourself.

The distance and accuracy are pure skill and have nothing to do with your grips.

If you want new grips go with Tour velvets or lamkin crosslines or something along those lines. Notice that no tour players use all the 'cool' and trendy grips. There is relatively little technology in a golf grip, keep it that way. What effect will lighter grips have on my swing?yeah i agree with the other yahoo awnserer,

the grip wont change much, if anything it will act like adding extra grips to a cricket bat will work, i know this because i represented county at cricket for the main XI, anyway, i got told if you were to put a heavier grip on a golf club, the head will just feel heavier, i dont know if you feel like that will help? I would presume u would finding getting under the ball easier though.

No harm in trying though is there? :)What effect will lighter grips have on my swing? It won't make that much of a difference. I suggest working on keeping your head steady throughout your swing because if you move your head you will have a harder time watching the club head thus producing more off center hits. 30g is a really small amount when talking about the overall weight of your club so there won't be much improvement. My only advice is to spend a good deal of time on the driving range. What effect will lighter grips have on my swing? If you are slowing down your swing to help feel the club head more, yes buy lighter grips. The lighter grips allow you to feel the club head more during the swing and they also promote a faster swing speed. If those are your two problems, get lighter grips! What effect will lighter grips have on my swing? Are you always keeping your head steady? If not it makes it incredibly difficult to track the club head through your swing. If you want light grips thats cool but I doubt that it will change your ability to track the club head.

How to enable wireless connections on Windows 7?

I have been using wireless connections on my Windows 7 computer with no issues for several months. However, I have recently changed to a wired connection. After switching it seems my wireless has become disabled. No networks are shown as available and the blue light that has always indicated my wireless is working, has gone dark. It should be a reasonably easy fix. I fixed it last week through luck, but I cannot remember how.

(Urgent) How long does it take for my eyes to be burned and damaged by strong sunlight?

Not long ago my eyes were exposed to super strong sunlight (no clouds that day) for about 2 seconds and I worry a lot that my eyes can have been permanently damaged since that day (imagine staring at the sun in Arizona). Which factor contributes more to eye damage, light intensity or duration of exposure to light?

By the way I switched on the bathroom light yesterday night when my mother was standing 4-5 inches away from the bathroom light bulb replacing it (and of course she was staring straight at it). The sudden change from pitch darkness to super brightness made her grimace. Will her vision go bad? I think my mother's condition is worse than mine because her eyes were just inches away from the light source while the sun is so far away.

Last question, what age(s) suffer(s) most from retinal burn? I am 16 (puberty) and my mother is 50 (start of body degeneration).

Thanks.(Urgent) How long does it take for my eyes to be burned and damaged by strong sunlight?2 seconds of staring at the sun will likely not do any damage to the eye unless you were standing on Venus. Intensity (brightness) and duration go hand in hand. You can look at a low intensity light for a longer period before any damage or a high level intensity for a short time. But UV output and wave length are also factors which is why you can stare at a %26quot;black light%26quot; for a very long time and never notice any effects but not an arc welder.(Urgent) How long does it take for my eyes to be burned and damaged by strong sunlight?I have always worn dark glasses. I have never been able to handle bright lights or sun. My mom said I was exposed to a bright light when I was a baby and at the time they did not realize that it damaged the cornea in my eyes.

Never look at the Sun directly, [you are looking for trouble], as for your mother she should not have been looking at the bulb when you turned on the light to replace it. You should have used a flash light, it is softer and is not directly in a persons eyes.

If I where you I would go see an eye doctor and have yours and your moms eyes check to make sure there is not and serious damage.

I live in Arizona and have for 11 years now, I never go out side with a pair of shades on....I even swim with them on.

    Good luck.

Trailer wiring question, how to separate brake from signal lights on a trailer?

I am building a new trailer, and I ran into a snag in the electrical system, I installed four sets of lights: three amber sets for turn signals(one set on rear of trailer, and a set on either side of the fenders), and a red set for brake lights, but when I went to wire them up, I realized the tow vehicle has the signals and brake on the same circuit on the same lights, so of course when I hooked them up i got signals on both and brakes on both.

here is a little bit of information on my system:

    Vehicle is a 2001 Chrysler Neon 2.0l

the rear of the vehicle has the two red brake/signal lights and two clear reverse lights

the trailer is a 5x9 tilting utility trailer

the rear of the trailer has 2 red brake lights (one on each side), 2 amber turn signals (one on each side), a red marker bar in the middle, and some amber turn signals on the front and rear of each fender

with multiple side marker lights along each side of the frame and reach. with strips of reflective tape in between.

The connection is a 7pin round plug and receptacle, with a separate 4 pin round for auxiliary circuits for tilt control (two wires), deck lights switch and spare. Winch control is on reach.

I know if the tow vehicle has separate brake and signal lights, you can get a converter to change it to operate on the same light, but how can I do the opposite and separate them?

I am not looking for questions like why I need all of this, the trailer is for work and it is specified that I must have separate brake and signal lights, so no I cant just change them to all be brake and signal.

If more information is needed let me know and I shall try my best to post it as well.

Thank you for the time you took to read and ponder my question, I eagerly await an answer to my problem.Trailer wiring question, how to separate brake from signal lights on a trailer? If you are absolutely sure that you must have separate brake and turn signals then I can tell you how to do that. The catch is that every trailer I have owned does not have that - the rear red lights have two filiments: one for running light and the other one is for shared brake and turn signals.

If you still feel like you have to have separate brake lights you will have to run a wire the length of your vehicle and add a relay to the front of the car at the car's brake pedal switch. At the switch you will install a 20amp relay that connects to 12volts+ when the pedal is depressed. Don't hook the wire directly to the switch but use the relay to handle the power switching to the brake light circuit on the trailer. The relay will make a slight click each time you hit the brakes so if that will be annoying to you mount the relay under the hood. Use a 12volt+ source that is on even when the key is in the off position. Like your car brake lights, you need the trailer brake lights to work even if the car ignition is off. Add a 10-15 amp fuse at this location. That 12volts+ should be connected to an open connector on the trailer plug. Remember that the trailer plug will then only work with this trailer because you have done something that is totally non-standard.Trailer wiring question, how to separate brake from signal lights on a trailer?Contact your Chrysler dealer. It's as simple as snipping a wire to separate these circuits on the tow vehicle.Trailer wiring question, how to separate brake from signal lights on a trailer? It won't work without going back to the source of the brake and turn signals adding isolation relays and basically redesigning the wiring of the vehicle. The car isn't worth what it would cost to do this.Trailer wiring question, how to separate brake from signal lights on a trailer?I don't fully understand your question about the trailer lights, brake and indicators being on the same circuit. They must be wired separately, they cant be on the same circuit.Your problem as you describe it could be an earth fault and you may need to fit a relay to overcome the problem.

Does changing formula change poop colour?

My daughter was on Cow %26amp; Gate Stage 1 formula, and has been since birth. Her poop was always bright golden yellow coloured. We switched her over to Cow %26amp; Gate Infasoy (Soya milk formula) yesterday at 4pm because we found out she was lactose intolerent. When she went #2 this morning her poop was mostly yellow but the last bit was sort of a light snotty green. (She did a poop with her nappy off, thats how I know lol)

Would switching to Soy have changed her poop from yellow to green?

    x

(She's 6 weeks on Wednesday)Does changing formula change poop colour?yes it could.switching anything the child eats or drinks can have an effectDoes changing formula change poop colour? My doctor told me that if it is kind of green rather than yellow then it means that it is passing through the system faster... and that it is OK. Time to worry is if it gets dark... like brown or black cause that could mean it is taking too long to pass through the system and possible constipation... or other serious problems.

David Henderson - Let There Be (Incandescent) Light

    By David Henderson

    Friday, October 2, 2009

    What would Thomas Edison say?

Last month, stores in Europe stopped acquiring new stocks of Edison's brilliant invention. In truth, the traditional incandescent light bulb is terribly inefficient: Only about 10 percent of its energy output is in the form of visible light; the rest is emitted as heat. Switching everyone to alternatives such as compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) will result in fairly significant reductions in energy consumption, which will help Europe meet its targets for reductions in carbon dioxide emissions.

A similar ban, written into energy legislation a few years ago, is to take effect in the United States in 2012. Though it has distinct improvements over the European legislation, this ban is still a bad idea.

While the European Union outlawed a particular technology, Congress set minimum efficiency requirements for lighting. Old-fashioned (regular) incandescent bulbs do not meet this standard, but by 2012 there may very well be some improved incandescents on the market that will.

That this change is manifest in our daily lives makes it a meaningful and encouraging option, but it should be just that: a voluntary option. Light bulbs are a poor choice for regulation. Is there an overriding reason to regulate how Americans light their homes?

It's true that compact fluorescent lights are widely appreciated among those with heightened %26quot;green%26quot; sensibilities. They are a welcome option for those who are trying to reduce their environmental impact. Replacing bulbs may be a small measure, but it is also something that can be done by people who may feel powerless or frustrated before the larger problems besetting our planet.

But many people also have a decided dislike of CFLs and will greatly resent the ban. While they may last longer than incandescent bulbs, the upfront cost is high; the light produced is not as bright as that of incandescent bulbs; they are slow to achieve full brightness; the bulbs don't fit in many old lamps; they can't be dimmed; and their lifespan is greatly shortened by using them for less than 15 minutes at a time. The manufacturers of compact fluorescent lights have made improvements on some of these issues, but their reputation is not yet vindicated.

The environmental benefits of using only compact fluorescent bulbs are indirect -- and less than what could be realized by changing standards governing, for example, coal use. Consider: The benefit of %26quot;reducing inefficiency%26quot; depends on where the energy is coming from. Improving efficiency without eliminating a harmful source may just free energy that is then used elsewhere. If there is no net reduction in energy use, where is the benefit? Direct regulation of harmful activities, such as putting firm limits on carbon emissions, is more likely to achieve the desired environmental result. (And this would only indirectly influence my bedroom decor.) A great deal of the wasted energy in lighting comes from excessive nighttime lighting in public spaces, which is an excellent issue for government to address. Banning traditional light bulbs as used in private homes seems an effort in the name of environmental protection that has very little payoff.

There is more political will behind environmental reform than is generally appreciated, but it is not unlimited. We should invest our political capital where it will be most effective, not burn it in compact fluorescents. Congress should regulate matters that require the force of law, such as banning mountaintop removal in coal mining and new coal-burning power plants. Leave people to change their own light bulbs.

The writer teaches environmental ethics in the philosophy and religion department at Western Carolina University.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/conAre you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs?those screwy little bulbs sometimes only last a week in this house. we have yet to get 6 months out of one, and they are very temperamental. if struck by sudden cold from an opened door, they will crack into very tiny pieces. in our rural area they are very costly 1 @ $8.99 where as a regular bulb is 3 for a $1.00. the light is nice and white, very slow to illuminate, but the cost does not yet offset. even if left on continuously we have yet to see the green savings. the Mercury is a whole other concern. especially with autism. so until the technology is improved we are against them. we can punch wholes in our atmosphere but we can't yet light the dark effectively. Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs?I have two complaints with them:

    (1) I have had numerous early-life failures. They should last several years yet some have lasted less than one.

    (2) My house hase several built in light fixtures that will not accept them due to the big collar around the base. Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs? It's amazing and sick how our government can be pro-choice on murdering babies, but not on letting people choose their light-bulbs.

The CFLs have dangerous levels of mercury.

They don't produce as much heat- which is actually helpful in winter.

They make irritating noises, flicker at an annoying rate, and can cause headaches.

They cannot be easily disposed of.

They don't work well with dimmers.

    And as already pointed out

Many don't last as long as they should.

Many don't fit in traditional spots. Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs?Paul,

Seriously, your answer is to shut down coal power plants, without placing a form of energy to meet the need? You wonder why people think you greeners are crazy? Ok Paul, without power all of the people on life support will die, is that acceptable? Without energy, the modes by which which get food and water will be shut down and people will starve, is that acceptable? Without electricity most businesses would be forced to shut down and people will be without jobs, is that acceptable? Most importantly, without energy you won't be able to post your stupid comments on YA, then where would the world be?Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs? That's an interesting point, is the value of providing the environmentally conscious a sense of empowerment in being able to choose CFL's more valuable than the greater market penetration of mandating the efficient lighting.

We know from seatbelts that even with their own lives on the line, many people will not voluntarily use them unless it's mandated by law. With seatbelts, the very real benefits of saving lives outweighed the intangible benefits of motivational management and there is really no downside to using the belts. Likewise the real benefits of energy savings outweighs the more intangible personnel management benefits of leaving people with a choice and the downside is that EasyBake Ovens will have to be redesigned.

With the abortion debate, the downside to not allowing abortions is to destine the pregnant girls and their children to a life of poverty and to undergo great personal risk simply for a lapse in judgement based upon a questionable criteria for what constitutes an individual life and perhaps for being an involuntary victim as well as encourage a grey or black market of unregulated and dangerous medical procedures. The abortion debate is much more troubling and definitely not clear cut, to say that it is clear cut would be arrogant and judgemental.

Is the enforcement of law required more when there is a large population over which regulation is to be enforced or when there is a small population over which to enforce said regulation. You can be certain that out of the millions of peoples in the country, some people will not do what they should unless forced to do so but there's a chance that a small group of companies might see fit to be good citizens albeit a small chance given the profit motivation.

The Mercury issue is overblown, there's only a few milligrams of elemental mercury in each bulb if that. There's several orders of magnitude more in your thermostat or thermometer and even more in the coal that we burn. If you BBQ with Kingsford charcoal, which augments charcoal with coal, you'll have much more mercury. It's methly mercury that's bioavailable and bioaccumulates in the food chain so the danger with CFL's is if they get into landfills because mercury gets biomethylased by anaerobic bacteria found in anaerobic environments like landfills. Unless your home is devoid of oxygen, releasing the mercury from the occasional CFL is not dangerous.

Dimmable CFL's are one the market now.

The geo-engineering concept favored for reflecting solar energy from the atmosphere is to increase sulfur emissions at high altitudes not aluminum oxide particles which would settle out quickly. The sulfur would cause water droplets to be smaller and hence more reflective and is a proven mechanism for increasing the reflectivity of clouds. Aluminum and aluminum oxide particles are just something shiny that the uninformed gravitate towards as a way of increasing reflectivity.

With seatbelts and CFL's, there's no sane reason not to other than EasyBake ovens. With abortion, it's almost always a complicated and emotional decision that should not be devalued by exhortation.

Thomas Edison was more of a profiteer than an advocate of technology and progress. He wouldn't care about efficiency, just about profit margins and marketability. Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs?I will use the bulbs I deem appropriate.

I have many lightbulbs in my house that are on for less than ten minutes per year( Attics, little used closets, etc.). Switching these to CFL's is silly on all counts.

Not being retarded, I will use cfl's to save money when they will be on enough to justify the initial expense.

If incandescent bulbs are outlawed, I will stock up on them and be in continuous violation of the law--nothing new for me.Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs? They don't give off the same light - it's kind of a faint glow. The super handed them out and my girlfriend has them in her apartment and there aren't any windows in her bathrooms - I can't see well enough to shave. The purpose of a lightbulb is to provide light.

As for saving money, my electric bill is about $25/month. And what drives it is the fridge and the computer, not the lights. We're talking pennies here unless you've got a banquet hall or something - in which case, again, you'd think you'd want people to be able to see their food.

And then there's the mercury....... Ok we got rid of mercury-thermometers because the same nanny-state types didn't think we could handle one drop of mercury in a glass tube that would be replaced maybe once in fifty years - - so instead we're going to have high mercury levels in consumables? What's the logic in that? And we have all these radio ads - %26quot;don't put mercury in the trash.%26quot; Well, what do you think will happen with these new lightbulbs? 3/4 of people, at least, will just toss them in the trash. Maybe if you have a %26quot;bottle bill%26quot; type program, nickel or dime per lightbulb, you can reduce that to 1/2. The landfills will be full of these things and the mercury levels in drinking water will skyrocket. But they'll blame it on power plants so what do they care? Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs? They're a poisonous waste of time.

Wait for LED lights to reach the next hurdle, then you'll have efficient, nonpoisonous light that will last for a long time. Are you GREEN - or are you going to boycott those screwy little bulbs? No bulbs should be allowed, only gas laterns.

Also, all the cotton we are using for clothing is starving out the boll weevils and people should start going naked.

Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change?

My concern is simple. We are being bombarded everywhere we look and listen about how we are damaging the planet. We are urged to turn off lights, turn of 'standby' to use the bus or walk. However it disgusts me that supermarkets continue to keep their lights on after closing! that high rise buildings have their lights on 24/7! that the same offenders have their computers on 24/7! surely it is logical to assume that if these were switched off as much as possible, costs would decrease, the amount of pollution would decrease, the cooker effect which is London would decrease and it would encourage me for one to be more inclined to switch off my lights if its part of a national effort!!Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change? For me the answer is not to conserve, it's to campaign for the use of cleaner power production.

It's all very well saying don't leave things on standby, don't leave lights on, etc, etc. Heck! Let's just forget all the mod cons that we enjoy as part of being a modern, technologically advanced society and go back to living in caves, shall we?

No, the answer is not to go backwards. The answer is to go forwards.

For example - there's not a snowball's chance in hell that I will turn off my hot water to save energy. I *like* having hot water on tap whenever I want it.

What I *have* done however is install solar panels on my roof that heats my water via the power of the sun.

Thus, I cut down on my energy use *without* giving up on my luxuries.

For me, *that* is the way forward. Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change?I agree...and another similar problem is the amount of food that places like McDonald's waste every single day! It's a disgrace, and it sickens me to think that because of their pathetic policies, good food has to be wasted, whilst people on the streets are starving! I went through the drive thru last week and I was given a Happy Meal for my son with fries, when I'd ordered a fruit bag...so rather than even offering us to keep the fries anyway, the guy just through them in the bin. I was horrified.

YOU SAY ABOUT THE LARGE COMPANIES USING LIGHTS 24/7 AND COMPUTERS ON STANDBY YES I AGREE WITH YOU THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE BUT I ALSO THINK THAT IF WE ALL DO OUR BIT EVEN PUTTING THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF WATER IN THE KETTLE IT STILL HELPS. I AM VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS SUBJECT AND BELIEVE THAT IF ALL FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES PULL THEIR WEIGHT THIS SITUATION CAN BE SORTED, HOWEVER THE LARGER COMPANIES SHOULD BE MADE PAY A SUBSTANTIAL FINE FOR LEAVING LIGHTS ON COMPUTERS ON STANDBY AND THROWING AWAY PERFECTLY GOOD FOOD. THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO TARGET THESE COMPANIES FIRST BECAUSE THE ORDINARY PERSON COULDN'T AFFORD TO PAY A HEFTY FINE NOR COULD SMALLER BUSINESSES.

GREAT QUESTION 10 OUTTA 10Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change?Yes, the developed world drips with waste and hypocrisy. The message should be shown to have been received from the top down.Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change? In order to have it work, everyone needs to conserve energy. I know, at least here in California, stores at least dim their lights at night. I think it makes sense not to have the stores completely dark - because of increased liklihood of theft. I remember when we had huge power shortages a few years ago here in California, EVERYONE was conserving, stores, homes, etc. I remember stores being dimmed during the day, rolling blackouts, etc. I think the sense of urgancy needs to be increased if everyone will participate. However, here is the pessimist in me: some people will never care or try to conserve. It's frustrating, but true. We can't force them to conserve, many have the attitude of %26quot;I can afford the pay the bill so I'm going to leave my AC and my lights on 24hrs a day%26quot;. People face the same problem when working on conservation, like me. I am part of the team workign to save the California condor from extinction, but there are still people out there who think they have the right to shoot the birds, or poison them with lead. It's a imperfect world. :(Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change?Let me let you in on a dirty little secret. Regardless of how much electricity you or I use, the power plants around the U.S. still generate more or less the same amount of electricity. They have to.... the electricity needs to be on the grid when you wake up at 2:00 a.m. and turn on your light to see your way to the bathroom. It isn't like there is a giant battery somewhere to store excess electricity. If it isn't used it is wasted. If you want to reduce the demand on the grid unplug your refrigerator, and stop using other items with motors. Your lights and computers really don't use that much electricity. Likewise, the lights in supermarkets don't use 1/100 th of the amount of electricity that is used in the stores freezers and coolers.

Of the top 50 energy users in the United States, 20 deal with food. (Each of these uses over 1 trillion Btus/year) I guess we could all stop eating food from stores, that would save a lot of electricity. Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change?I agree with most of what you say but supermarkets use after hours for re-stocking. But we shouldn't need to wait for others to show an example. Is this concern shared, if so spread the word so things can change?Excellent question. How to wire the other blk wire and the red wire. And how do the two blk wires that are attached to the?

I'm attempting to change an existing switch that operates two lights in a bathroom, to a GFI outlet with a switch to operate the lights. The existing wiring is a three wire (blk is feed, the red ties the two lights together and the neutral. The new GFI and switch has two blk wires on the bottom I know the line blk wire goes to the gold screw and I think the whites get tied together. But I'm not sure how to wire the other blk wire and the red wire. And how do the two blk wires that are attached to the GFI come into play..How to wire the other blk wire and the red wire. And how do the two blk wires that are attached to the? There are two ways to do it. If you don't need the GFCI to protect the lights, just run the black wire to the light switch and the outlet. If you do want protection for the light, run a wire from the output terminal on the GFCI to the switch. How to wire the other blk wire and the red wire. And how do the two blk wires that are attached to the?If the GFCI has a switch, the you need to connect the two red wires to the lights to the output or copper screw and the white wires to the silver screw. The input will go to the other copper screw or to the input leads. The GFCI works by detecting impedance between the three sides, hot/power, neutral or white and green, or ground. All three must be connected to it on the input side. The red wires are the ones that need to be switched. You can connect the neutral from the lights to the neutral side of the GFI on the output. Otherwise it won't be working right.

About Harley Davidson LED light kits...?

SO.. My boyfriend has a Harley and it's an '03 Wide Glide (don't know if this matters, or not...) and for Christmas, I would really like to get him one of those kit thingys (I'm totally retarded when it comes to this stuff... sorry! lol!) to put LED lights over (or maybe on the sides of...???) the engine. My problem is that I don't know how many strands or the LEAST EXPENSIVE, yet still with great quality, place to get them would be...? I really like the ones that change colors and he LOVES the any blues, so maybe the %26quot;cool white%26quot; (which is almost like baby blue) changing to blue...?

I talked to a couple people that I've met who have the lights on their bikes when we go on rides and they say *not* to get them from Harley dealerships because they're WAY more expensive, but I thought SOMEONE has to install them, right??

Like I said, I really don't know much about this stuff so if someone would just be awesome and walk me through everything I'm going to need to buy and the approximate pricing (because I AM on a budget, however I heard these aren't *that* expensive), that would be great!

I know his dad knows a lot (manually) about the bikes and he also has a friend who repairs them at a Harley dealership, so if need be, one of them could probably install them..

All I know (which is nothing!) is that I need the lights and a switch. And maybe I'm guessing, but I thought that there was some sort of locking mechanism that you could put on these so that some ***hole doesn't walk by and turn them on and drain your battery...????

THANK YOU!!!About Harley Davidson LED light kits...?you can find led light kits at cyclegear.com for around $100.00 dollars About Harley Davidson LED light kits...?I have them no problem you can get a kit on ebay just search led light kits for motor cycles. Should be about $100 or less. Wire them up so they turn on and off with key.

  • Can you answer this riddle?

this is a popular riddle, so people who have heard it before dont ruin it for others! I posted this before but someone named %26quot;girly%26quot; who heard it before answered right away.

You are in a room that is divided in the middle by a wall. There is a door on the dividing wall that leads to the other side of the room. In one side of the room there are three switches next to eachother that are all flipped up in the off position. In the other side of room there is a light bulb that is also off. From one side of the room there is no way of looking/getting into the other side without going through the door. Only one of the switches will turn on the light bulb. You can mess around with the switches all you want, but once you open the door and go to or look at the other room, you can not go back and change the switches. How do you figure out which switch turns on the lightbulb?

Hint: it has everything to do with the switches! Can you answer this riddle?OK! I won't ruin it for the others!!!Can you answer this riddle?you look through the glass wall or a window and coordinate thae switchesCan you answer this riddle?Flip one switch and leave it on for a while. Then flip that one off and another one on.

Then, go in the room. If the bulb is on, that's the second switch. If the bulb isn't on but is hot, thats the first one. If the bulb is neither on nor hot, then it is the third switch. Can you answer this riddle?flip all the switches

EDIT - I see the person above me evidently has the correct answer, however - you may need to reword the question to %26quot;you can only flip one switch at a time%26quot; because if you use my answer, the damn light will turn on lolCan you answer this riddle?idk can u plz email me and tell me the answer? its killing me!

edit: OH i already knew that 1 i misread the quesiton and thought u had to somehow turn on the light, not figure out which switch turns it on, but the answer sounds familiar! SOONER winsCan you answer this riddle?uhm i dunno. flip all the switches on? sry if i ruined but i doubt i did cuz that seems to easy. whats the answer? Can you answer this riddle?uhh ... change thu bulb....Can you answer this riddle? Not fair...i hadnt heard of this one b4... :-(

the question seemed interesting so i jus worked it out...it wasnt that difficult! Can you answer this riddle?Turn on one switch for say 5 mins now turn it off, the bulb is warm. Then just before entering the room turn ANOTHER SWITCH, this light is on. The last switch do not touch as this is cold and off. 1 bulb is off and warm

    2 Bulb is on

3 bulb is off and coldCan you answer this riddle?idk can u tell me?Can you answer this riddle?have someone stand in the other room and yell when the light is onCan you answer this riddle?flip all the switches one at a time?

how does someone ruin a riddle if they answer it?Can you answer this riddle?I say, Turn up all three switches in the %26quot;on position%26quot; and go through to the otherside, knowing that one of the three switches that's on, is the one connecting to the lightbulb. So, the lightbulb should be on, no matter what. (unless it burned out)-tht would suck.

    Therefore, I win. (lolz)

Edit:OOOHHHHHH, I miss understood...I ddnt c the last part. woops....

Opinions on how to stage flashbacks?

I've been adapting a short story as a one-act play. There is a scene I want to do with flashbacks, two different times a few months apart in the same shabby kitchen. There are three characters in one scene, two in the other. I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to suggest the different times with changes in lighting (different time of day?), food on the table, maybe a sweater or other small bit of costuming.

I'd prefer to do this by going back and forth in short snippets between the two time periods but I wonder if that creates too many technical difficulties. Could the changes be simple enough to do that, switching in just a couple of seconds of darkness? Or would all that back and forth just be too difficult and distracting and I should give up the idea?Opinions on how to stage flashbacks?that sounds neat to read, but difficult to execute. it might be best to condense the flash backs if possible, or keep the characters in the same clothes, but changing the light between flash backs and present. the audience will understand, and it will clip along at a pace that is interesting to watch. they're at a play, and understand that there is some level of suspension of disbelief. Good luck!

    Hair color and age?

I am pale with very light blue green eyes.

I just turned 30 but look young for my age (or so I thought)

I had been dyeing my hair strawberry blonde for years.

Recently wanted a changed and I switched to a light golden brown with a few dark golden blond highlights.

All of a sudden people keeping saying I look young and Im getting treated like Im younger.

How can hair color make such a difference ?

And why is a now darker haircolor making me look younger ?

I would think the blonde made me looked younger before.

This very close to my natural hair color (a righ golden brown)

so maybe that's why...........Hair color and age?Because people think that older people don't usually dye their hair.Hair color and age?Well, if this is closer to your natural color, it makes sense. :) It probably matches your natural tones better, creating a subconciously more %26quot;put together%26quot; look. Maybe the old color looked forced on an unconcious level? You know, you can look at a person sometimes and just know that's not their real hair color, and dying your hair is something many people associate with greying, which equals age... Your natural color probably keys into a more youthful, complete, and natural look. :)

Just a thought.Hair color and age?My guess is that the comments are made as social pleasantry. After all, are they really going to tell you that you now look older? Basically, you probably look the same age no matter what your hair color will be. The appearance of the skin, weight and health are bigger factors that affect how young a woman looks.

I have both gas and elec supplied by N-Power,in light of the price hike now imminent should i change my suppliers immediately or can i expect the other companies to announce a price increase of their own.

If i do switch how reliable are sites like Confused.com or U-Switch?Duel fuel change of supplier?I heard theyre going to follow suit so you may as well stay with them for now.Duel fuel change of supplier?I, too use nPower. As you know, like all suppliers, their prices go up and down. You are right to expect other companies to follow suit with nPower's 10%-11% imminent rise in charges.

    Of all the pundits I have seen on T.V. lately and also heard from experts on radio (yesterday on BBC Radio 2) the general advice is: UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES TRY SWITCHING AT THIS TIME. Confused.com and U-Switch get about £60 per switch and so they will probably still try to advise such a move. Their advice is reliable at the time of publication, being regulated by law, but remember the old saying: '%26quot;What goes around comes around.%26quot;

The BBC Radio 2 'expert', especially, advised that you would gain little and might pay more if you switched within the next six to eight weeks. The advice was to see how the market stabilised i.e. how other companies match up to nPower.

Thereafter, you might be in a better position to judge what is suitable for you from the various offers available. Unless something incredibly advantageous came about - and I doubt it - switching to gain a few pounds and then switching again at a later date seems to me not to be worth the 'hassle'. You may lose a few quid this time and then gain a few quid next time. This is what happens to me for standing orders for power charges with my bank. A bit like mortgage offers, really.

Come back state-owned monopolies! They had you by the nether regions but the competitive market will try to get you in every other part of your being!

    Energy efficient light bulbs?

Are energy efficient bulbs really worth it. I don't find myself changing the same bulbs repeatedly, they seem to last over a year, and the cost is a lot less then the energy efficient bulbs. Does anyone have any solid numbers (number of bulbs switched compared to the change in energy bill. Everyone says that it reduces it but by how much?

    ThanksEnergy efficient light bulbs?After replacing 38 bulbs from around my home, I noticed that my electric bill was about $12 less than the previous month and $8 less than one year ago. Since then it has been close to that amount. I may have spent $85 to replace all of the bulbs, so at this rate I will have paid for the bulbs in about 8 months. By spring of 2008 I will be saving money. So, to answer your question, %26quot;are these bulbs worth it?%26quot;

Not for a while. One day they may be.Energy efficient light bulbs?if you have light that youleave on a lot they are worth it in the long run. But if you have lights that go on and off frequently you are better of using the normal type. I have a mixture based on this.Energy efficient light bulbs?ask myth busters they might even knowEnergy efficient light bulbs?By how much depends on how often you have your lights on, and how many....if you run one bulb constant, and it's a 100 watt incandescent bulb, you can get a bulb of the same brightness that only consumes 25 watts, thats 75% off. if you have alot of lighting, that adds upEnergy efficient light bulbs?I find that they're not really bright enough and I have to turn on lamps so that I don't strain my eyes. I wonder whether that means I'm saving electricity or just wasting it.

Sorry, I know that doesn't realy answer your question, it's just a relavent point.Energy efficient light bulbs? The energy efficient tend to run around 5-7 years on average. But their true money saving comes from the power they use, a normal bulb uses 60 watts average, and an energy bulb of equal light uses only 17 watts. so...over the course of a year, the energy bulb uses 2/3s less energy than a standard bulb...

take that over the course of 5 years and im guessing it adds up to a pretty substantial amount of savings. That and the energy companies don't have to generate as much power to supply us if we all switch too.Energy efficient light bulbs?Good question whether the energy and other resources used up to make 'energy-efficient' bulbs is greater than their savings.

Waking at first light and going to bed once it got dark would solve the Problem cheaply. But that would ruin the whole TV and movie industry so won't happen.

Are there any activities you do with the lights on that would be almost as much fun with the lights off?Energy efficient light bulbs? In our area you can get rebates on energy efficient bulbs that make them cost-competitive with incandescents. Check energystar.com.

They are supposed to last 10 times as long as incandescents. I agree that the light is often not as quality but they are getting better.

Remember that they have trace amounts of mercury in them so you can't just throw them in the trash. Most big-box retailers that sell the bulbs will take them back to dispose of them properly.Energy efficient light bulbs?Compact fluorescent light bulbs use approximately 75 % less electricity than regular light bulbs and last up to seven years! Buy Energy Star庐 certified table lamps, light fixtures, or torchieres.

Energy Cost Savings ?A typical ENERGY STAR home can reduce energy bills by $400 a year.

http://www.michigan.gov/documents/cis/CIEnergy efficient light bulbs?I have been using CF bulbs since before they became wildly popular. The quality of light and the newer form factors are a big improvement over the originals. I would say they are definitely worth the couple of extra bucks per bulb.

You can also find 3-way, dimable, and decorative tapers these days if you want them.

    Here is a quick comparison:

In any standard %26quot;type A%26quot; fixture a 13 watt bulb will put out approximately the same light as a 60 watt incandescent. That means that you can light up 6 fixtures for the energy of a single 75 watt incandescent bulb.

In short, I can light up my whole house for less than 150 watts. It would take close to 700 watts to do the same thing with traditional incandescents.Energy efficient light bulbs? The change in your bill is going to depend on your prior evergy use. But consider:

Incandescent bulbs (the ordanary kind) use lots of energy, most of which is expended as heat.

    Wattage = heat

    Lumens = light output

A 60 watt light bulb put out 60 watts of heat, and (the box I had in the brooder room) puts out 840 lumens of light.

In comparison, to get 840 lumens from a Flourescent bulb, you only need a 20 to 30 watt bulb.

Now, if you have a situation where you want heat, like raising baby birds, you need an incandescent bulb. Most folks don't need the heating side effects.

If you have a house full of 60 to 100 watt bulbs, you are having to pay to cool the house from the excess heat. So in figuring out cost savings of the CFL bulbs you need to figure A) the fact that you will not have to change the bulbs so often; they last 5 years or more -really great in hard-to-reach places

and B) the fact that you do not have to use additional energy to disperse the excess heat.

Hope this helpsEnergy efficient light bulbs?Incandescent (regular bulbs) are less efficient than CFLs (compact flourescent lights) because incandescent lamps convert approximately 90% of the energy they consume into heat (compared to 30% for a CFL). Lighting accounts for between 9-15% of household electricity usage. If widespread use of CFLs could save three-quarters to four-fifths of this, it would amount to a total energy saving of more than 7% from household usage.

In the United States, a CFL can save over US$30 in electricity costs over the lamp檚 lifetime compared to an incandescent lamp and save 2000 times their own weight in greenhouse gases.

Many cfl bulbs come with a 7 year warranty, further guarenteeing that you will save money in the long run.

I live in canada, and here our electricity company sometimes sends out coupons to save on the purchase of cfl bulbs. Keep your eyes open for coupons such as these or search the internet for free coupons.

Also, here in canada, they are phasing out the old incandescent bulbs, so that in a few years it will be illegal to sell or buy them. So i don't have much choice but to use the energy efficient ones.Energy efficient light bulbs?Three years ago I caught the compact fluorescents on sale for one dollar each, I bought about 25 of them. I replaced 1400 watts of incandecent with 189 watts of CFLs (I'm using 85% less electricity than I was). My wife complains because the lights in the kitchen soffit actually throw MORE light than they did.So far two bulbs have burned out. I brought them back to the supermarket where I purchased them and they replaced them for free (they are garanteed for 5 years by GE but I haven't even had to go through that hassle). So you tell me.Energy efficient light bulbs?I don't know just how much electricity your saving but energy efficient light bulbs last about 5 times longer than the average light bulb and only cost 2 to 3 times as much so your saving money just by buying it, plus saving on your electric bill which probably won't be that much but it's something.Energy efficient light bulbs?Light bulbs come in many forms, but the cost effecient bulb is categorized by the lumens written on the package or box.

    I

A bulb and I mean any bulb that has smaller amount of lumens will have the best energy saver in consuming watts.

Some bulbs have 1750 lumens which is high.

Some bulbs have 1600 lumens which is smaller than 1750 and will save on your power bill.

Flourescent bulbs are also energy savers but here again the lumens are the major factor in saving power useage along with being energy efficieint and wise to turn off the lights when not in use. Turn down your water heater to 120 degrees and save there as well. The only difference is that your hot water will not last as long. I can take a 20 min shower and then it starts to cool off, but that is long enough for me in the shower anyways.

Now if you have central heating and air I'll let you in on something about these ton units.

I have a three ton and I cool 1700 sq ft during these hot summer days and I set my thermostat to 75 and that is where it stays 24 hrs 7 days a week. We have total electric and my power bill is average bewteen $130.00 to $140.00 every month ane keep in mind that my central air thermostat is never touched. The secret is that your compressor starts and draws amps like the kickens each time it starts. So by rasing your thermostat it won't kick on as much and you save on your power bill. A good insulated house will always save you money.

I haven't seen a power bill over $150.00 in ages.

My system works for me and it will work for you.

How Do I Fix the Power Source to Yard Lamp Post?

My husband and I bought a house about 4 months ago. At the end of the driveway, there is a lamp post that turns on at night. But about a month ago, the light stopped working. We changed the lightbulb and took a look at the photo sensor which seemed fine, but still the light does not work. My husband plugged a little fan into the outlet that is on the lamp post and since the fan (which normally works fine) did not turn on he concluded that there must be something wrong with the power source. The problem is, we don't have the slightest idea how or where to access the power source. (We're first-time home buyers, by the way.) There doesn't appear to be a light switch anywhere. Is it really necessary to dig up the yard and pull out the wiring, or is there an easier fix to this problem? How Do I Fix the Power Source to Yard Lamp Post?Take off the globe and follow the wiring. There is a good chance you loosen the wires or it got bumped.

If you still have no clue look at the electrical panel for a tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse. Reset any tripped breakers or blown fuses. Then the power should liven up the wires.

The photo cell is a switch that turns the light off when there is enough light present. It could also be bad. If it is you should beable to short its two wires to by pass the switch so the light has 24-7 power. How Do I Fix the Power Source to Yard Lamp Post? The wiring for the light would have used a plastic conduit or special underground cable to power the light-- the power could come direct from the panel or the garage-- there should also have been a ground fault receptacle in garage or circuit breaker installed at panel that will have reset buttons--- check these possibilities first--- there may also have been a power switch either in garage or front door area-- at the photo sensor there would always be power at the line side --use a meter to confirm power present---at lamp post was that a ground fault receptacle with reset button-- good luck---

Its time we made a change, Think you can help?

It may seem long, but trust me, its very important and interesting...

    The Earth's temperature is rising.

    The Ice caps are melting.

The o-zone layer is getting thicker each year, layered with dangerous greenhouse gases which are only contributing to these problems. If we dont act now, The world is going to be damaged beyond repair. The o-zone layer protects us from meteors and comets, but if it gets too thick, the heat produced by the sun which is bounced back from the earth, cannot escape into space again, meaning the earth's temperature rises each year, Damaging the world in many ways. Many animals living On the Ice caps WILL become Endangered if they are not already, and eventually extinct in their natural habitats, Beautiful animals who have done nothing to contribute to this. Many countries who are on or below sea level and suffering from more and more floods as the sea levels rise more and more each year. Eventually entire countries could be immersed underwater, if we dont do something now. Probably one of the worst things about it is, it will not be us that will see the worst of this, It will be future generations who have done nothing wrong.

There are many things we can do to make a difference, and save the world we live in. They may seem little things, but if everyone does one little thing, a big thing can happen! So do as many of these as you can. Write to your Government, both local and national, with your views and opinions and things you think we can all do to help, Such as fitting all public buildings with Energy saving lightbulbs if this isnt already the case. If Every house in the UK fitted one energy saving lightbulb, 23 power stations could be closed down, think how many would be closed if all the bulbs in everyones house were all energy saving lightbulbs! They last alot longer than normal lightbulbs too.

Switch off any appliances or lights that are not being used, and make sure the red light is not on, because if an appliance is on standby, it still uses 85% of the power used if it was switched on fully.

Recycling is also extremely important, UK households produce 30.5 million tonnes of rubbish in 2003/04, of which only 17% was recycled. Recycling means less fossil fuels and energy is used in creating new materials than reusing the old ones.

Recycling is an excellent way of saving energy and conserving the environment. Did you know that:

1 recycled tin can would save enough energy to power a television for 3 hours.

1 recycled glass bottle would save enough energy to power a computer for 25 minutes.

1 recycled plastic bottle would save enough energy to power a 60-watt light bulb for 3 hours.

70% less energy is required to recycle paper compared with making it from raw materials.

Up to 60% of the rubbish that ends up in the dustbin could be recycled.

The unreleased energy contained in the average dustbin each year could power a television for 5,000 hours.

The largest lake in the Britain could be filled with rubbish from the UK in 8 months.

On average, 16% of the money you spend on a product pays for the packaging, which ultimately ends up as rubbish.

As much as 50% of waste in the average dustbin could be composted.

Up to 80% of a vehicle can be recycled.

9 out of 10 people would recycle more if it were made easier.

If 9/10 people would recyle if it was made easier, lets make it easier for them!! write to your government or council asking for recycling bins to be provided for each household, If they are not already. Ask for special bins to be put out on the street for rubbish which can be recycled.

    Aluminium

24 million tonnes of aluminium is produced annually, 51,000 tonnes of which ends up as packaging in the UK.

If all cans in the UK were recycled, we would need 14 million fewer dustbins.

36,000,000 worth of aluminium is thrown away each year.

Aluminium cans can be recycled and ready to use in just 6 weeks.

    Glass

Each UK family uses an average of 500 glass bottles and jars annually.

The largest glass furnace produces over 1 million glass bottles and jars per day.

Glass is 100% recyclable and can be used again and again.

Glass that is thrown away and ends up in landfills will never decompose.

    Paper

Recycled paper produces 73% less air pollution than if it was made from raw materials.

12.5 million tonnes of paper and cardboard are used annually in the UK.

The average person in the UK gets through 38kg of newspapers per year.

It takes 24 trees to make 1 ton of newspaper.

    Plastic

275,000 tonnes of plastic are used each year in the UK, thats about 15 million bottles per day.

Most families throw away about 40kg of plastic per year, which could otherwise be recycled.

The use of plastic in Western Europe is growing about 4% each year.

Plastic can take up to 500 years to decompose.

Only using enough water in your kettle, or when you are cooking will lower your energy consumption. And not only will all these things help the environment, it will help lower yours or your parents' electricity bills

Tell your friends, let as many people as you know know about this, the more people that know the better!

Theres alot of little things everyone can do to make a big change, dont you think its worth it? I think we can really make a difference if we try, what about you?Its time we made a change, Think you can help?I have made a decision to help our environment by purchasing natural products that are non-toxic and environmentally safe. Make you home and life healthier by being clean and green! Its time we made a change, Think you can help? You can do all that but me I'm off the grid as it is and using the money that i save from NOT paying the utility company's tuns of money and putting it into alternative energy such as this http://nanodetonator.com .Go to Q%26amp;A its easyer to understandIts time we made a change, Think you can help?I totally agree about recycling and using less energy etc but one thing does confuse me...the ice caps have always been melting! Millions of years ago we had the Ice Age and the reason we don't now is because of the Earth warming up, and is there really truly anything that will stop it? Is it not just natural progression? Also things go in cycles in nature, this year we've had a lot of floods, in 2 years time we could have droughts, in the 40's the Thames froze over, as it did in the 1600's, if we looked far enough back in history we would see similar tales of various natural disasters or phenonemons repeating in cycles.

But back to the ice caps, not being facaetious at all, but that's what ice does and who can say if it is melting faster or at the same rate it always has? We can't for sure because it wasn't monitored until the 20th century.

I'm not saying we should not look after our planet, of course we should, and we should respect nature, but you can't stop natural progressions even if they don't seem natural to us. A million years ago we might have been sat here saying, what can we do to save the dinasuars. It's sad but it's also a fact that you can't always save everything, nature will rule. Its time we made a change, Think you can help?Yes, and we are helping, come join this group and find out more. How does my first chapter sound?

He looked at the time on his digital watch, counting by seconds. It had just turned 2:42am. A tall dark figure exhausts all his energy lifting himself in a seated position on his bed, in his bland, tidy, dark room.

His name is Roland Medlocke. 34 years old. Unmarried. And about to be the sole survivor of Earth.

    %26quot;A fear unlike any other%26quot;

To stare at the stars, is to stare in the beyond, to a place of empty validity. To look beyond life on Earth.

    Chapter I

Roland walks out to his balcony, out of his rented hotel room, on the 23rd floor. He see's a star, gleeming in the night sky, seemingly noticable beyond all others. He attends his thoughts for a moment, racing through his mind trying to decide to whether we are alone in the Universe. He comes to the uncautioned decision to leave that question alone until morning. He lazily, and almost blindedly from the light of the moon changing the dialation of his pupils, heads back into his darkened room, and walks towards his bed, pulls the covers over, out of his way, lays down, and replace's the covers to the correct position. He grabs the remote, turns the TV on, and sets the remote back down on his night stand.

Roland himself, akward, is naturally a different person, mentally, from all others. He doesn't see things the same as everyone else, and that maybe is the key reason of his future, lonesome existence as prey. He is never one to take irrelevance seriously.

But what may have once have been irrelavent in his mind, may be changed, for the rest of his survival.

Roland fastly falls into the peaceful structure of sleep once more, and for the rest of the last night, the rest of humanity sleeps.

He wakes up to the brightening ray of light just passing the crack in the shut curtains, as the sun just arose from its slumber. Oddly enough, to himself, he notices the piercing question that bewildered his mind just the night before, bringing it to his attention as his main thought, as he opens his eyes to the next day. He doesn't keep the returning question as top priority for the morning for long.

He then gathers the energy to get out of bed, and go into the tiny hotel bathroom. He feels for the light switch in the dark, gloomy bathroom, and flips it up, but to his surprise, no light cuts on. He mumbles under his stale breath %26quot;Just great...%26quot;, and walks back in the bedroom, finally noticing the TV was not on when he woke up. He grabs his cell phone off the night stand, and opens it up, to provide needed light, to do his morning hygenic's.

He looks at the front display of his phone, and notices his phone has no connection, taking the freedom of calling someone away, if he needed it. With a dreary attitude, he walks back to the bathroom, sets the phone on the bathroom counter, turns the swivel that makes the phones display screen open and close, to an angle, to where the light from the front display shines on his face. He turns the nob on the sink, that provides hot water, on, and hears a paniced rumble of noises coming from the sink, it only lasts for 2 seconds or so, as he watches attentively. Finally, a liquid emerges from the facett, only relieving his depression of how his morning started for the few seconds he thinks that it is water that is coming from the facett, but to his demise, it is muddy, reddish-brown water, as if it was water from a muddy puddle. He doesn't notice that it is not water. He puts his hands together, as if to grasp a collection of water, and splash's it on his face, the muddy water covers his hands, as he places them under the facett, and he notices his hands have the feel of a left over residue residing on his hands from running the muddy water on them. He quickly grabs the towel that was in the cabinet under the sink and dries his hands off. He grabs the phone, aiming it, as a make-shift flashlight, and see's a reddish-brown impression on the towel that he dried his hands off on, he then turns the phone facing the running facett, and see's muddy water, plummitting down the drain in the sink. With a hightened sense of paranoia, he rushes out the hotel room, runs down the hallway, in darkness. Figuring the elevators aren't working due to the power-outage. He heads for the stairs. Making his way to the exit door to the stairs, he opens the door, with quite a bit of paniced force, and rushes down the stairs.

He stumbles, and trips down the stairs, in a hurry for an explaination, as relief to his paranoia.

That soon is exactly what he doesn't get.

Excuse grammatical errors, I will fix them later. No rude comments please. Opinions appreciated.

How does my first chapter sound?sorry to crit you, but I would never write a novel in a present tense, it put me off immediately. How does my first chapter sound?Roland is a horrible name. How does my first chapter sound?Hey that was quite gripping actually unless for a few mistakes and grammatical errors, but that is fine. To continue with your novel you need to just open your mind and let inspiration come to you. If you want, you can get ideas from other books of literature and also from y our life and the world around you. News, people, places, things.

In additon, you might want to check the official websites of authors like JK Rowling, Stephenie Meyer, Nicholas Sparks, Betsy Byars, Michael Crichton etc... Some of the advise they have given to aspiring and young authors is worth in diamonds, beleive me. Take down notes from the advise they give and keep a seperate notebook to help you.

    Hoffie

How does my first chapter sound?Hi, I thought it was fantastic but I also think that my comment won't help you any... so I'm giving constructive criticism.

    I found that you kept repeating %26quot;He does this and he does that.%26quot; Try putting in a bit more Roland in like %26quot;Looking at the display of his phone, Roland notices that he had no signal%26quot;

Try not to give too much information as that can confuse the reader, like the moon blinding his eyes is brilliant but you don't need to mention that his pupils have dialated.

Mix up your sentences. It seems as if you've been using too much complex sentences, try using simple.

Simple sentences have 1 MAIN verb, compound have 2 MAIN verbs and complex 2MAIN verbs plus extra stuff (I don't want to go into the grammar in full).

It's fantastic writing, it's just the grammar, which is fantastic considering most writers don't consider small grammar points (like the sentences etc), I didn't even know until my sister pointed it out me.

I wish you the best (and all the above is not saying it's bad, it's saying it's good btw!)How does my first chapter sound?sounds ok but it will be like i am legend or i am omega or omega man without the vamps unless u add vamps idk i read the first part .

  • Can anyone tell me where the neutral switch is located on a 1998 plymouth voyager and how hard to reach??

The reverse lights do not work, might be the neutral switch, but I have'nt a clue where it is or how hard it would be to change.. I'm assuming it is some sort of plug in switch.. Can anyone help me?? Thanx , PippoCan anyone tell me where the neutral switch is located on a 1998 plymouth voyager and how hard to reach??It uses a Transmission Range Sensor (TRS for short) that tells the computer what gear it is shifted in instead of a traditional neutral safety switch, or PRNDL switch.

To replace it, you have to get inside the transmission, I wouldn't really recommend trying to replace it yourself unless you're confident in your mechanical abilities. If you do try, make sure to use a repair manual.

BTW, The switch on the brake pedal is for the brake lights, not reverse lights. Can anyone tell me where the neutral switch is located on a 1998 plymouth voyager and how hard to reach??It could be the light bulbs. Replace those and see if the reverse lights work.

And uh.. neutral? There is no switch. It's a gear.

    Place the car in park.

    Go down one: That's Reverse

    Go down again: That's neutral.

    Go down again: That's drive

If it's a standard, neutral would be in the center, not placed in any gears and the shifter should move side to side if it's in neutral. Can anyone tell me where the neutral switch is located on a 1998 plymouth voyager and how hard to reach??neutral safely switch is not the problem.... try a light blub a fuse or a broken wire... but anyways most are above the brake pedal or on the transmission....id just replace the tail light bulbsCan anyone tell me where the neutral switch is located on a 1998 plymouth voyager and how hard to reach??OK.... stand in frount of van .... open hood..... prop up hood..... while in that position still looking toward engine,,,, take right hand and also look down and to the right,,,, you see the tranny??? use hand and reach in and wiggle the boot like black plastic cap with the wires on it!!!! This is the safty neutral switch.... take it off and spry some wd-40 into it and on the connectors!!!!!!!!

Hope that helped!!!!!!!!! Happened to me a couple of times on our van,

P.S. Be sure to snuggly put it back on or van will not start!!!

Peugeot 206 handbrake and oil light flickering?

    hi

i have a 2000 Peugeot 206 1.4 and a week ago i had my timing belt and head gasket changed because i had an oil leak. i don't no if its related but the handbrake light, oil light and stop light is flickering at me when stopping in traffic and like usual i have the handbrake light lit i have my handbrake on.

as soon as i start to move off or rev the car a little the lights stop flickering and everything is normal. i hear no unusual noise and i haven't realised any difference in the car.

i also changed the oil pressure switch which hasn't helped.

i checked all my oils and they are all find and also the car came out of mechanics and i was there when he checked and topped up all the oils and liquids etc etc.

does anyone one why its flickering please help and someone also told me to increase the idle and it will fix the problem how do i do that and what is idle.Peugeot 206 handbrake and oil light flickering?you need a new oil pressure switch, approx 5 and 15 minuets to fit onePeugeot 206 handbrake and oil light flickering? You MIGHT have a sticking oil presure relief valve, or your idle is too low. The oil pressure relief valve is a part of your oil pump. In other words, if your relief valve is mucked up with sludgy oil, it cannot do it's job, which is to regulate oil pressure when the engine is cold or idling slow. If your engine is fule injected, have your IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE cleaned out with gum-out spray or equivalent. Check your PCV hose for signs of collapsing. IF you have been using regular oils, STOP DOING THIS. Regular oil is the usual cause for oil leaks and sticking pressure valves. START using Mobil One or ELF oil , or at least German Castrol!!! If your engine is idling too slow, it will trigger the oil pressure light no matter how often you change the sensor. Perhaps your technician has used the wrong weight or manufacture of oil for your car. START by having your throttle body and idle air control valve cleaned out. Power wash your engine so things stay clean and easy to see! It is also possible that your voltage regulator is acting up due to low engine speed, or bad carbon brushes that need replacing.Peugeot 206 handbrake and oil light flickering?Told you before, mate, the brake warning system and the oil pressure warning system are entirely separate. The only thing they have in common is that they both have warning lights. You have an electrical problem.

I have a 95' Dodge Ram Pickup and the Cigarette lighter does not work and I need to change it how do I do it?

I have tried just switching the fuse for it this is not the problemI have a 95' Dodge Ram Pickup and the Cigarette lighter does not work and I need to change it how do I do it?do you have a junk yard? I would go to one if you have one near by and find your car make and model and take all of the cigarette lighter parts and put them in. I had the same problem and was able to fix mine that way! It's really easy to work on yourself!

    Riddddddle...................?

There was a man, a room, and a door. in the room there were two lights. one of the lightbulbs went out he had to change one if he changed the wrong one he would die. outside the door there was a light switch. he can only go outside once. he cannot change the bulb with the light on he would get electrecuted. however you spell it. how did he do it.Riddddddle...................?Well, since the light went out, the light wouldn't be on. So there's no need for him to even go outside to turn the switch off, unless you meant none of the lights could be on. In that case, he could of just marked the one that already went out. Or remembered it was the one farthest to the left, or farthest to the right or something. Then he could turn the other light off and change the bulb. Idk.Riddddddle...................?he saw which one went out, switched it off, and changed itRiddddddle...................?he was a good guesserRiddddddle...................?first he remove one of the blubs and keep it then he would go outside and switch on the lights if there was light in the room then he would change the blub in his hand if not he would change the other blub.

thank youuuuuuuRiddddddle...................?ok, first of all you need to calm down!

second, he went outside, turned on the switch, and then turned it off, went back inside and felt and which ever lub was cold, was the one he switched!Riddddddle...................?i would take both lightbulbs out and shake 'em both. whichever one rattled is the burnt out one. throw that one away, put in both working lightbulbs and go outside and turn on the switch.Riddddddle...................?he felt the light bulbs and the warmer one was not blown

  • How do I wire a 9-wire reversible ceiling fan with light?

I don't have the directions to wire my ceiling fan. There are 9 wires altogether. 1 is the bare, stiff copper ground wire. 3 more are stiff copper wires that are coated Red, White and Black. The remaining 5 wires are more flexible, non-copper wires and are coated Light Green, Dark Green, Blue, Black and White. There is nothing on the fan that says who manufactured it. Can anyone tell me what wires get connected together? This is a reversible fan with 5 blades and 3 lights. There are 2 pull chains: 1 turns the lights on or off. The other chain changes the fan speed. There is a switch on the fan that changes the fan direction. There are 2 switches on the wall, 1 to control the lights and 1 to control the fan. Any help is MUCH, MUCH appreciated. Fuse problem?

Toyota Corolla 1993. Tail lights (braking lights work) and front parking lights don't work. I changed the fuse, the parking lights turned on for 1 second and then off again. I checked the fuse and it had blown again. Like an idiot, I did it three more times all with the same result. Lights on for a second, blown fuse. What's wrong? I read something about changing a switch but I've no clue as to how that's done. Thanks in advanceFuse problem?definitely a short somewhere after the fuse, i really dont think changing the combo switch will fix you problem. You will just have to take a look at the wiring to the parking lights either manually or via wiring diagram and check for any exposed wireFuse problem?taillight and brake lights are separate, do the taillights still work?

defective question...now we have to guess.

put a fat fuse in there 30 amp, if it blows instantly, there is a dead short, otherwise...

take all the taillight/park light bulbs out, turn on park light switch, check fuse, put new bulbs in one at a time, check fuse each time.Fuse problem?Check that the wires in the back of parking lights are not arcing out on the surrounding metal. Allwires should be covered by the plastic coating and should not have wires exposed. Could also obtain other parking lights from wreckers and try them to see if problem reoccurs as the insulation in your parkers might be defective.
