How long should i switch up my routine when breaking the plateau?

Hey guys, i hit a plateau effect about 6 months into working out. So i changed things up a bit. For how many weeks should i change it up for? because my body got used to lifting heavy weights, but thats all i should be doing. So one week i did my routine backwards and lifted light and really fast..man was i sore. it seemed to work good. Should i do it for ANOTHer week? or go back to lifting heavy again.How long should i switch up my routine when breaking the plateau?You defiantly need to do it longer then a week, maybe a month if you like to stick to one set workout, but it sounds like you wanna lift heavy so just do a different workout with heavy weights, try different exercises, do drop sets,super sets, lift heavy to light, or light to heavy, just do the exercises in different orders, change your split routine up so your doing different muscles groups together then your used to, there are all kind of things you can do, just mix it up constantly and you shouldnt ever plateau
