The car is a 97 Toyota Corolla
There is a white/green wire and a green wire not connected to anything behind the radio. The radio does not need a dimmer or illumination power. I believe these two wires deal with the dimmer or illumination. With the headlights on, 12 volts will show at these two wires. They look like they go to the dimmer switch. However, when you adjust the dimmer there is no voltage change and no lights come on that should (like the dashboard back light and such.) All other lights work (turn signals on dash, headlights, brake lights, etc).
Checked the fuses and all of them seem to be fine.
Not sure what steps to take now. Shouldnt the voltage for the white/green wire change when adjusting the dimmer knob? It doesnt. Help. It sucks driving at night with no dash lights. I have to go by how fast others are going to determine my speed.
Is there a way to test the dimmer switch itself, though I dont know why that wouldve stopped working.
Id appreciate any help ThanUninstalled factory radio and installed new radio. Now Dimmer light for car does not work...?save you from headaches pull out the stereo again then take it to a stereo shop,to get it install again if the dash light dont go on tell the person who install the stereo that your lights aint working they will be able to fix it i bet you that you have a wire shorting.
