Rewiring light curcuit?

hiya guys basically i want to add to additional lights to a room and have it running off a seperate switch but at the moment i have a basic ceiling rose light which i am changing to 6 spots. then i want 2 spots running off a seperate switch how would i achieve this. thanks guysRewiring light curcuit?The idea here is to make sure you complete a curcuit - that is, hot out to the lights, ground back to the switch.



So, seperate the feed wires from the two lights you want, and combine the white wires and the black wires together. Run that line to your new switch and wire it in. Each light will have a green ground - run that to a screw in the mounting box.

Im a sparky so why the hell should I tell you, or anyone else how to do my job that has cost me sh1t loads of money/time to qualify, let alone the expense of all the equipment we need..

if only for peice of mind for you and your family.Rewiring light curcuit?Totally agree with Yogi although somewhat more politely, if you are unsure as it seems you are get a qualified sparks in find one at http://www.competentperson.co.uk/search.asp then search for your post code, if you are local you may find me there, or yogi, but please in the interests of safety do not attempt if you are unsure especially from the advise i have seen being given on various questions here ( such as white wires ??? no they are brown, blue and green/yellow for the last 4 years and black red and green/yellow for msany years prior to that) where does white come from ?? i really would advise anyone not to take advise regarding electrics from anyone other that qualified electricians as it is dangerous and in most cases breaches builkding regulations.Rewiring light curcuit?Hi, pick up the power supply before it gets to the ceiling rose. Break into it, put a junction box in line and tap of off there. May I suggest that if you do not know a basic step like that you leave it alone and call in someone who does. The law says you can do it yourself but it must be done i compliance with electrical regulations. Just added this. I have just read previous answers and we are all saying the same, you don't know then leave it alone.
