How to change ceiling fan to light fixture?

I am changing from a ceiling fan to a light. i hooked the white to white, black to black and grounded the ground. The is a red wire left over that i capped off. when i turned the breaker back on the light stays on regardless if the switch is up or downHow to change ceiling fan to light fixture?A fan usually has two %26quot;hot%26quot; wires, red and black. To do this right, wire your light fixture to the black and white wires, cap the red one. Open your switch box, and wire the switch to the black and white wires too.
