How do i change the window motor on a 1987 chevy suburban?
ive got an 87 chevy suburban with a non functional drivers power window. the switch works because when i turn the key to %26quot;on%26quot; and move the switch, the %26quot;service engine soon%26quot; light dims a little bit. ive taken the door panels off and disconnected the motor, but that's about it. anyone have any tips or pics or insutrctions or anything about how to get the motor out? any help is appreciatedHow do i change the window motor on a 1987 chevy suburban?if the window is up it's a walk in the park , feel the other end of the motor from the plug in you should feel three screw heads remove these and the motor should come out with a little work. if it's down good luck. on some models there are three little div its on the inner door frame these are where the bolt heads are located and will require a drill to gain access to them. other wise you will have to remove the entire window regulatorHow do i change the window motor on a 1987 chevy suburban?Usually the motor and the window regulator (called that because it regulates the height of the window) come as a unit. Yahoo or Google search A1 Electric or Electric -Life for replacement regulators. There are also picture instructions for installing the same, on line. When you buy from them, they send detailed instructions also. You may be able to get a motor from a junker, but due to the age of the vehicle that may be a crap shoot, unless the motors did not change, I do not know that much about the GM regulators. I just installed power windows in my truck, and found it very easy from them.
