Can Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?

Q) There are THREE light switches outside of a room but all the light bulbs are inside the room. You can switch the bulbs on and off as many times as you want before entering the room, but once you are in, you can't come out to turn any off/on again. So as soon as you open the door, there is no going back to change the switches again.

How can you know which switch goes to which bulb if you can only enter once and can't possibly see into the room?

Q) There are two paths, one leads to Eutopia, a land of greatness. One, to a city of death where anyone who enters dies.

You get to ask ONE question to just ONE out of two people.

One of who always tells lies. The other, always tells the truth.

What question would guarantee you knowing which path leads to Eutopia and which leads to death-land?

Q) A man was found in a barn hanging by a noose with nothing but a puddle of water beneath him. There was no stool to knock out the way etc... So how did he do it without help? Can Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?First one has to do with leaving the light on and waiting for it to heat up but I forget exactly how it goes.

The second one is you would ask %26quot;Where would the other person tell me is the way to Eutopia?%26quot;

Third - he stood on a block of iceCan Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?the last one is he stood on a block of ice the other two dunno lolCan Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?1. open the door turn on the lights then enter

2. dunno

3. it was a block of iceCan Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?2) ask where the other guy would tell me to go and do the opposite it hard to explain how it works but it will if you think about itCan Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?you turn 1 bulb on, leave one bulb off and then turn 1 bulb on for a few minutes until it warms up n then turn it off so when u go in u have 1 on,1 off(cold) and 1 off but warm.

q3. stood on ice block.

q2.i saw the answer on one of the aboves answers -so i wont bother. Can Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?You switch the first switch on, wait for five minutes then switch the second one on..

Go in and immediately feel which bulb is the hottest that is the first switch.

The other one alight is the second.

The one that is out the third.

I ask one of them which path leads to the city of death then choose the other path.

He stood on a block of ice.Can Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?1.ask some one to go into the room and tell him/her to tell you which 1s which

2.ask the guy that tells the truth %26quot;which 1 leads 2 eutopea and which one goes to 2 the deate-land or ask the guy that always tells a lie which 1s which and do the opposite of wat he does

3.he was standing on a giant ice cube or he has some crying issuesCan Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?1) you feel the bulb after it's been turned off to see if it's hot.

2) Which way would the other man tell me how to get to Eutopia...whatever answer he gets, he goes the other way.

3) He stood on a block of ice which melted. Can Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?1. Turn on the lights for different amounts of time and then feel the light bulbs to see which one is the hottest (the one turned on the longest) and etc.

2. Don't know

3. Stood on a block of ice.Can Answer These Riddles... Without Looking on The Internet!?1.)put one switch one way and the other switch the other way then after like 10 minutes go in check which one is hot and that is the one that you did blablabla ok you get it right?

2.)you can ask both people im guessing because if you ask the one who lies go to the opposite door he tells you and if its the one who tells the truthgo to the one who tells the trut

3.)every one knows that block of ice trick come on!

How many people here have had a CFL bulb expire and fill their house with horrid smoke?

As an environmental activist and Registered Nurse ( I am a former Board Member of an environmental coalition organization ) I try to do what I can for the environment and for public health. Therefore, a year ago, we changed all the light bulbs in our home to the new CFL light bulbs under the impression that we were doing the responsible thing for the environment and public health, energy savings and less pollution.

I recently had a very scary experience of witnessing a CFL bulb shoot sparks from my son's bedroom ceiling light fixture. I was in the kitchen and saw what almost looked like lightning reflected off of the glass over a hanging wall print in the hallway outside his bedroom and the light lit up the hall, dining room and the kitchen and immediately, a horrid smelling smoke started pouring out of the top of his bedroom door. I ran as fast as I could in our small home, to grab the fire extinguisher right outside his bedroom in the linen closet and nearly simultaneously hit his light switch to off. It couldn't have been more than 15 to 20 seconds tops from the time I heard the bulb blow and saw the sparks. Yet his bedroom, the hallway the hall bathroom, the dining room were already filled with thick smoke. As soon as I hit the light switch, the sparking stopped, but the smoke continued to emit for pperhaps a minute longer.

I am LUCKY that I had an attic fan! I quickly ran to the dining room, opened the door to the patio and turned on the attic fan.

The bulb was less than two years old.

At first, I thought I was merely the unlucky rare person to see a freak thing with a defective bulb. My son started looking up online if the smoke was toxic, all while I was busy trying to clean his room and get all the cloth ( bedding, curtains) clean to rid them of that nasty smell.

THIS is the article he found:

PLEASE bookmark it and read it. It is LONG, even by my long post standards, but I think very important.

http://www.thebriefingroom.com/archives/

He discovered an article that told us ( from reading the attached link) what we saw may be a common method of the end of life for such light bulbs.

And we learned that they are far from SAFE for the environment OR public health.

After spending two hours with an attic fan on late at night, having to take off all bedding and clean the entire room from top to bottom, I still worry about traces of that bulb in his room.

We replaced all the light bulbs again. Now I have the old style bulbs back. And until we can't find them anymore, that's what I am going to use.

The risk of fire and mercury poisoning IMHO are not worth the few dollar a year savings (and if the bulbs don't REALLY last any longer than the others, you're not saving much anyway)

If I had not been right there, I have no doubt there would have been a fire. Right after turning on the attic fan, I wanted to get that bulb out of the house to prevent even the tiniest bit of smoke or contents to escape, and the light fixture was so hot I burned my fingertips. I am surprised it did not crack.

That smoke smell stayed in my nose for days, and I had to depend on my husband's nose to tell me if he could smell it in our son's room because..and I'm serious..all I could smell for two days was that horrible smell of that light bulb, whose smoke filled half my home in under a minute.

This was not an off brand bulb, but a Sylvania CFL light bulb that was supposed to last 10 years.

There were two other bulbs in the fixture. One of them appeared to look fine, the third bulb had a tell-tale blackened bottom that appeared to indicate that it was not far from going as well.

How many of you have had any similar experience?

Has anyone had a CFL bulb actually catch fire?

I am angry. I am worried about public safety.

I wonder why none of the environmental organizations whose newsletters I read had a thing about any of this?

I cannot now, in good conscience promote the use of those bulbs and in fact, I think that UNTIL they improve the technology, I will DISCOURAGE their use.

So, I want to POLL All here to try to discover just how common something like this is?

Who has had a similar experience?

OR give your opinions or knowledge on this matter.

I would also like to hear from people who have been using these bulbs for more than a year or two to see how many of you have had them already go out, and explain how they went out.

Thanks. How many people here have had a CFL bulb expire and fill their house with horrid smoke?Wow- I had a similar thing happen, but as usual didn't investigate it as thoroughly as you did (I did, however, use it as ammunition in our on-going debate over these bulbs, which I have to admit I hate- from their appearance to the light they throw, I just don't like them. Shallow maybe, but I've got to live here and I'm very sensitive to my light sources in long, grey winters :) When one died on us, my smoke alarms went off. I was cooking and my first thought was that something was burning, so I was checking out the kitchen while the smoke grew. At the time we had just come here and were in a 2200 sq. ft condo. I opened all the windows and doors, had on all the fans, and it still set off *all* the alarms. At the time, I was just kind of embarrassed, and felt bad for disturbing my neighbors. We had the wiring and lighting checked because my thoughts were toward preventing an electrical fire. One more reason I just can't seem to like these bulbs...How many people here have had a CFL bulb expire and fill their house with horrid smoke?another reason not to like those horrid things...

thanks for the info, mama. How many people here have had a CFL bulb expire and fill their house with horrid smoke? Thanks for sharing that! That would freak me out.

I can't use those bulbs in my house because my daughter and I have epilepsy and their light triggers our seizures. It's truly awful. It also triggers my migraines. I am really concerned that they are phasing out the availability of incandescent bulbs. Then what? How many people here have had a CFL bulb expire and fill their house with horrid smoke?I remember a few years ago, when government regulators were asked how to deal with this issue, they responded with %26quot;Run out of the room%26quot;.

Seems they haven't improved the design much in the interval. How many people here have had a CFL bulb expire and fill their house with horrid smoke? Thanks for the heads up. I'll pass it along to all my contacts.

.How many people here have had a CFL bulb expire and fill their house with horrid smoke?Yikes.

I used them in an auto-on lamp during a three week trip. I had a house sitter looking in but could easily had severe damage.

For anyone with even mild chemical sensitivity, it could be completely debilating after exposure.

===========

You know, I hadn't switched over for the most part, when they came out. I used some older halogens, but not many CFLs. I did a little googling %26amp; it didn't sit quite right with me. Maybe the hyped sense. Also, mercury gave me images of fish poisoned with it. The idea of toxic clean up - sounded like it was being pushed before it was ready for market. Didn't like the light output at all. I guess that funny feeling was right %26amp; my %26quot;laziness%26quot; paid off.

To the person with seizures, that's just plain scary - for them to become common use, you couldn't visit people?

I started reading the article, %26amp; all I can say, is a hope this information gets out. This is not a solution. 2% is a great savings, but not when it's going to cause more damage in the long run. The problems are much deeper than even the smoke %26amp; burning up.

Edit:

I've sent out an email. Now I can wait for a 2nd experiment. How long will it take for the email to come back to me in chain form? How long from then to reach snopes?

How do i change the window motor on a 1987 chevy suburban?

ive got an 87 chevy suburban with a non functional drivers power window. the switch works because when i turn the key to %26quot;on%26quot; and move the switch, the %26quot;service engine soon%26quot; light dims a little bit. ive taken the door panels off and disconnected the motor, but that's about it. anyone have any tips or pics or insutrctions or anything about how to get the motor out? any help is appreciatedHow do i change the window motor on a 1987 chevy suburban?if the window is up it's a walk in the park , feel the other end of the motor from the plug in you should feel three screw heads remove these and the motor should come out with a little work. if it's down good luck. on some models there are three little div its on the inner door frame these are where the bolt heads are located and will require a drill to gain access to them. other wise you will have to remove the entire window regulatorHow do i change the window motor on a 1987 chevy suburban?Usually the motor and the window regulator (called that because it regulates the height of the window) come as a unit. Yahoo or Google search A1 Electric or Electric -Life for replacement regulators. There are also picture instructions for installing the same, on line. When you buy from them, they send detailed instructions also. You may be able to get a motor from a junker, but due to the age of the vehicle that may be a crap shoot, unless the motors did not change, I do not know that much about the GM regulators. I just installed power windows in my truck, and found it very easy from them.

How long should i switch up my routine when breaking the plateau?

Hey guys, i hit a plateau effect about 6 months into working out. So i changed things up a bit. For how many weeks should i change it up for? because my body got used to lifting heavy weights, but thats all i should be doing. So one week i did my routine backwards and lifted light and really fast..man was i sore. it seemed to work good. Should i do it for ANOTHer week? or go back to lifting heavy again. How long should i switch up my routine when breaking the plateau? You defiantly need to do it longer then a week, maybe a month if you like to stick to one set workout, but it sounds like you wanna lift heavy so just do a different workout with heavy weights, try different exercises, do drop sets, super sets, lift heavy to light, or light to heavy, just do the exercises in different orders, change your split routine up so your doing different muscles groups together then your used to, there are all kind of things you can do, just mix it up constantly and you shouldnt ever plateau

  • Ceiling fan/light dimmer?

    Hi,

We are doing a little work in my aunts house. She has an old victorian home and in her living room she has a chandelier that she hates so she wants to put in ceiling fans (its the same way in the dining room) My problem is, There is two switches that turn the chandelier off and on (three-way switch i assume.) I was wondering, ceiling fans now have a blue wire now for the light but our one we bought two years ago has a fan and a light but only has a black and white wire and its on our single pole switch and it still works. I was wondering, can you not put it in now since there are not seperate circuits for the fan and light? did they change that? Also, if i wanted to put in a dual fan/light dimmer, how would i do this now, do i have to add an extra wire or a seperate circuit? If there was only one switch and not two i think it would be way less complicated. Please tell me everything u know. Thanks much for the help!!Ceiling fan/light dimmer? You can buy a remote kit for ceiling fans. It will allow you turn on the light or the fan on by itself. Also will allow you to dim the light, change the speed of the fan. Most home centers sell them in the lighting department. It will come with a controler that you wire at the fan, and a wall switch that will take the place of one of the swiches. If the current light is on a 3way you will have a dead switch on one end. Hoope this helps.Ceiling fan/light dimmer?yes and no

First of all. you have to two different circuits for the fan and the light if you want to have a wall mounted dimmer switch. You can't do this with a 3 way circuit.

The fan will come with instructions on how to wire it so that you can have a separate circuits for the fan and the light.

If you are going to add a circuit, you can use the wiring you all ready have for the fan and the new circuit for the light.

My guess is that you will look at the amount of work involved and decided that the dimmer is not worth it. That is what most people do.

The one you put in in the past should have had one of two color combinations; the first is black/white/green or black/white/green/blue. The green is for the ground. On the fans that have a extra (often blue) wire for the light, it is generally wired with the black when hooked up to a single circuit.

also, i'm in tempe arizona, i'd like to know where to buy the materials and if there's a cheaper way of lighting it with LED lights rather than changing colors and hooking it up to a computer chip, if its possible to have an on/off switch insteadHow to build light up dance floor?Awesome.
